Description
Pop Art print of the USAAF Enola Gay, a B29 Superfortress Bomber, from World War 2. The B29 (B-29) Superfortress Bomber was one of the most advanced USAAF bomber of World War 2. The B29 had a pressurized cabin, enabling it to reach much higher altitudes, and had remote-controlled machine-gun turrets. The B-29 Superfortress mainly saw action during World War II on the pacific Theatre. Probably the most famous B-29 Bomber constructed was the Enola Gay, which was the aircraft that dropped the first ever atomic bomb, "Little Boy", on Hiroshima in 1945. The B-29 superfortress carried on in service until the 1960s, taking part in the Korean War.
