Description
Winters are long for country kids in both Canada and the northeastern USA. For many generations these boys and girls spent much of their time out-of-doors, often skating on frozen farm ponds. A few friends would gather on a hastily shoveled rink for an afternoon of "shinny" and plenty of fresh air. Winter days are short and darkness comes early. Mother's call from the porch, the fading light, and warm thoughts of home cooking would end a game on a moments notice!
