Description
When viewing the moon at night we rarely see all of the moon, even with a "full moon." I took this shot of a crescent moon from the beach at Pokai Bay in Waiane, Hawaii. Because the town of Waianae is in the countryside on West Oahu it is away from the bright lights and other interferences that limit our view of the night sky. The moon was over the ocean and the sun was still partially visible so you can see the "crescent" lit by the sun and the unlit portion that would normally not be visible.
