Idea For Selling Orginals On Faa

Separately I had a brainstorm a few minutes ago. Just began a campaign to sell my videos. Simple blurb, "Make a bid. Let's get the ball rolling!"

The ball rolling is the same sort of idea.

I wonder if there is marketing in that for FAA. Not the bid or the QR code but something that works to call in the shoppers when FAA runs paid ads.

In other words, the shoppers are reached all the time. The hook is important.

"Got a wall? Cover it in art". Because it is a novel idea to young people who are on their screens.

Good idea, but... your title is Three Cooper Prings, not Prints, and your image says Melinda Copper, but your description says both Melinda Copper and Melinda Cooper!

Floyd, this sounds interesting to me, but I'm not sure I understand how you set this up. I do have a paypal account, and I can figure out how to make a qr code, but could you please flesh out the process?

The program is designed for posting to social media. I am not using it that way to any great extent. I created the display ad with the ad copy (typos and all) and then added the PayPal code. I can post it directly to wherever I want without going into my PayPal account.

No one should let my typos bother them; they haven't bothered me very much most of my entire dyslexia life. I will admit, though, that the older I get, the less they bother me, so I do get sloppy, but I stopped caring years ago.

When I tried it, the QR code is blank behind it. The other two show the image I uploaded. QR won't work unless they can see what they are buying...Can't figure out why the image shows for the other links and not QR. These things seriously NEVER work out for me...lol

Actually only the LINK will show my image. If I click on the Twitter, FB or QR code icon, the background is blank. My uploaded image doesn't show.

Thanks anyway Floyd...I tried everything and looked at everything and cannot figure out how to get the QR code on the image. Maybe you did that in Photoshop??

I am pretty sure QR codes can take of a good bit less space and still work. If that helps.

Keep in mind I am only using the PayPal system as a payment method.

Yes, you have to put the image in PhotoShop and then place the code on top of the image.

When PayPal first started doing this, I sold a few things using the PP page to post to SM. But then, just like FAA, the SM platforms started changing, and the posting was often not working. But the code and "shopping cart" still work very well, and posting them to Facebook and Twitter manually works.

I just did another one to make sure I was telling you the right way to do it.

Did anyone check the code in the Cooper image and did it work? Can some on check the code in the one below?

They both worked for me, but it is good to make sure the work for others.

Also, keep in mind that I am the world's worst teacher when it comes to explaining tech stuff.

Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but it didn't work for me. Took me to your FAA page and then only gave me a preview of the QR code--didn't take me anywhere else.

I think that is how you pay.

The problem with this plan most people are using cellphones. It takes a cellphone to read the QR code.

Worked for me too! It's a cool idea Floyd! I have recently been toying with the idea of offering a few Limited Edition prints and trying to decide if there is much value in them, for my photography. How do you handle keeping track of the editions that you sell? Simple spreadsheet or DB?

I did my limited editions years ago and used an old-fashioned index card filing system for years. Then, the last few I did, I did a spreadsheet. I don't do limited editions anymore.

But honestly, I am not sure that the average-selling artist without a serious following should mess with limited editions. You have to have some of decent distribution.

When I did it, we had a large wholesale and retail program that included fund rating auctions, home art parties, and a telemarketing program where we sent out a direct mail piece and followed up with a telephone call.

And, of course, I had the three brick-and-mortar galleries.

But things are different today. The first ones I did, we had to print them and pay for printing and warehousing. Today, you can do POD. That's how I do it for the pieces I sell on eBay and other sites. So it is not all that expensive to give it a try.

@David, this is only intended for people using their cell phones.

@Nancy, when you scan the code, it takes you to my ad hosted by PayPal, not FAA. Then, the buyer can use their PayPal balance or credit card of choice to make the purchase. I do the fulfillment myself.

As it is right now, there is no way for a buyer to buy an original or limited edition on FAA without having to contact the seller directly and make arrangements to pay for it. This gives the buyers a way of purchasing directly from you through PayPal and not having to contact you to make arrangements to pay.

It will be great if FAA has option to sell originals. I accept PayPal, Zelle, Venmo. Or direct pay to bank account...

If you have an older cell phone sitting around, it will still work if you turn on your hotspot. That gives the old phone access to your WiFi, and most of the functions will work. you just can't make phone calls with no service.

Selling originals was something FAA was going to do, but it got put on the back burner. I don't think it has any priority at all now but who knows?

This idea with the QR Codes gives the shopper the ability to buy directly from your PayPal account without having to contact you. The transaction can be completed in just a few clicks.

I wish he would take that boilerplate statement out.

"This original photograph is currently for sale. At the present time, originals are not offered for sale through the FASGallery secure checkout system. Please contact the gallery directly to inquire about purchasing this original."

The little self-contained dance she is doing at the end of this is something common with teens now. She may have earbuds in and a music track she hears.

Too bad in all the years of this site being in operation they havent adopted an original art sale option.

They do have that option. FAA has had it all along. This is a way to sell from your supply and collect the payment from PayPal. The arrangement is excellent because the money is taken before you ship.

If you post in Facebook groups that don’t allow links, could you create a QR code to put on the image that scans back to FAA or your personal Pixels website?

I haven’t seen any Facebook group rules that specifically prohibit it, probably because they haven’t thought of it and nobody has posted images with QR codes.

That would also make it so anyone who copied your image and posted it elsewhere would be doing to with the QR code leading back to your website.

Correct me if I am wrong. I think it leads back to PayPal for purchase.

It looks like there are a bunch of free and paid QR code generators. With this one it looks like you can even make the QR code sort of artistic of you get some sort of subscription. Of course it seems like not many people use QR codes and if it looks like a mix of a watermark and QR code people might not recognize it as a QR code.

You can create a QR code for any page just by using the back button on any webpage you are on. I have used QR codes that lead back to my FAA pages for years. That's how I am getting the QR Codes to post in images for the uploads here.

First, I generate the PayPal ad that gives you a link to the ad that you can post anywhere you want. I open that link, create the code with the back button (using Chrome), and post in the image I am uploading to FAA.

A week ago, I sold a $1500 dollar Signed and Numbered Limited Edition print from an FAA upload where the buyer had to contact me, and I had to send her a PayPal invoice. She just casually said that if I had put a QR code in the FAA upload, she could have paid directly.

The Instant Commerce program has not been around all that long I don't think.

I used the program to sell a few things on Facebook's Market Place. But I got tired of them removing all the ads that had pictures of animals in them and the warning that FB does not allow the selling of pets of animals, and if I kept doing it, they would close my account.

You can challenge those warnings but they only approved about half my challenges. FB is far from a perfect system.

Yep FB automatically challenges just about all paid ads as well. I have won all those battles but my account has been frozen three times. I won those challenges as well. The AI that manages that is set to challenge primarily.

This is one of the images FB took down and I lost the challenge. I ever said in the ad that it was a fine art reproduction of an original oil painting and that it was not a live horse we were selling. Does that even look like a live horse?

Yeah a few years ago as you know animals became a problem topic because of the abuse of living animals. FB took out all of it. Way overkill.

One problem with a piece of art selling a living animal would be the way for puppy mills and other animal abusers to get around a live animal ban. I get that is a poor way of calling it as a ban. FB does not allow dealing in animals. That would be different but unfortunately, abusers will use tools.

We have an outfit in this area, maybe beyond this area, that is selling puppies to order. This means the pet store of sorts will have the dog you want to order. Of course that sets up puppy mills with orders. Too much of a charade. Papers in the US are meaningless. Germany the second set of papers is permission to breed. Those are the valuable papers.

The irony now is AI animals are everywhere. They are wood carvings that are fake. I had so many people with accounts showing this stuff I started to permanently hide those accounts. Most laypeople think it is the real thing. It is really odd to watch people not know the obvious differences. The artists take credit as if it is an actual wood carving that took them months to make.

FB and others have reversed themselves. I get warnings endlessly when I comment on politics but zero action is taken against me. We have warnings mixed with much more freedom of expression now. By September or October, I expect a very different policy. I won't get locked out by testing it.

My NFTs get an adult challenge with every ad I come up with to run. I challenge and it is corrected. But I am not afforded an edit. I have to duplicate the ad, rename it, edit it, publish it, and resolve the automatic challenge. Enough challenges my ad account gets frozen/locked. I challenge that and it gets unlocked.

I can not sell crypto on FB. I can say I take crypto for the NFTs. I can sell NFTs. I would need another level of permission to trade in crypto. (I am not going to trade in crypto)

AI challenges just mean someone will see it later. It is like having a cheap receptionist on the fly say wait 20 minutes till we can see it.
