Canon Eos Utility & Windows 11

Anyone having issues with/solutions for Canon EOS Utility working with Windows 11?
It’s uploading images VERY slow like 5 in 10-15 minutes, also just quits.
Can’t find anything helpful online…
I’ve disabled my antivirus, reinstalled EOS Utility 3, disabled camera WiFi…
I’m using wired connection from the camera to a desktop computer, which is how I’ve done it for years with different cameras and different computers. About 5 images in 10-15 minutes hangs up and wears the battery down and quits. Some talk online is Utility 3 doesn’t play well with the Windows 11.

I only put the card in the slot and transfer it like normal files.
I'd install the drivers for the camera again, and replace the wire if that's how its hooked up. Try using file explorer and see if it transfers fast that way. Its possible the program is trying to generate some kind of thumbnail or reading it in an odd way as it goes in. I'd look at the settings to see if there is something to do with transferring files over. Try a different USB port, I know my camera needs a usb 3 I think and many of my old ports were 2 and that would slow it down. And don't use a hub, plug it directing into the computer.

I would go and buy a card reader, they are not expensive and a safer better way to download images from your camera to your computer, you take the card out of the camera, put it into the reader slot and let it download, then you can just look at images in either photoshop, Lightroom or whatever else you might use

Following to save.

Also is this a laptop or a pc? I've had issues with some usb ports failing on a laptop.

Have ordered a card reader, and will check for firmware and driver updates.

Especially set for win11. It might make a difference. But I would try a different port and a new wire. Wires do weird things. Like I had one that can read as a usb, but not charge at all.

The cord was the culprit!
I purchased the camera second hand and it didn’t come with a usb cable so I used the same mini usb cord from my previous canon model which worked fine with my previous computer running Windows 10.
Did some googling to find it required a double mini usb 3.0, (not sure what it’s called), which I happened to have from an external hard drive and it worked like lightning speed!
The proper accessories are so simple but so important!
Thanks for all the suggestions!

Cords do weird things. They look normal, but nope. Though do be careful of amazon basics I heard they catch fire sometimes.

if you are still getting the card reader, that is a much better and safer way to download

glad you figured it out, well done!
