Under location settings at the bottom of the page there's a unit of measure, l keep changing it from inches to centimetres, but then next time l look it's back to inches, l really want to keep it to centimetres, is there any way l can keep this to centimetres?, luckily the currency stays at GBP (well at the moment anyway)
It usually senses where you are in the world and adjusts it, so if your IP happens to be in an area that uses normal inches, it may switch to that. If you go to ipchicken.com see what it shows where you are.
I'm in the Uk, so it should be centimetres over inches although we use both, but it's mainly centimetres, i'm using the shopping basket widget in my own personal website which l set to centimetres but it still comes up inches. You said that wherever in the world you are it adjusts to whatever country you are in, do l assume that it also applies to the monetary side of it as well?.
As l said in my original post l did change it from inches to centemetre and it changed back to inches , and l personally prefer centemetre. I've used the shopping cart widget on my own personal website which I'm trying to get some business around the world and a lot of countries use metric.
Thanks for your comments , there's a lot of countries that only use metric rather than imperial, so l would have thought it would be beneficial for FAA to make it easier to use metric and imperial
I think Abbie just said that they do make it easy to switch.
But the fact remains, in my opinion, the default should be inches because 75%-90% of the sales are in the USA, no matter what country the seller lives in.
But people have to do what they are most comfortable with.
The ideal solution is, the site really should have both inches and centimeters at the same time. It wouldn't make sense for the money but would for sizes. Some do use metric even if inches is the standard in the country.
Europe changes to cm automatically. As do others who mainly use metric. I have seen one complaint in the UK in 12 years. Yours. I doubt it will change therefore, tbh
That would be the ideal solution, would save people coverting inches to cm's and vice versa.
Hi Abbie,
" l really want to keep it to centimetres, is there any way l can keep this to centimetres?," it's a question not a complaint hence the question mark,if it was a complaint it would have been worded different, but it's nice to know it automatically changes.
I am in the UK and I think in inches. It’s probably an age thing. I was taught imperial measures at school!
I have a different wish though. I mostly sell in the US and because this is an American site and we have to add our markup in US$ I am often changing my view to US$ so that I can easily see the markup other artists are using on new products or if I’m thinking of changing my own markups.
